ÜNLÜ & Co advised Dubai based Ibrakom, operating in logistics industry in the Middle East and Central Asia regions, in its partnership with South Korea’s leading logistics company CJ Logistics.
Turkey’s leading investment banking services and asset management group, ÜNLÜ & Co advised the partnership between Dubai-based Ibrakom, a logistics compnay operating in the Middle East and Central Asia regions and South Korea’s leading logistics company CJ Logistics Group.
Simge Ündüz, ÜNLÜ & Co Corporate Finance Managing Director, sharing information about the partnership and the process, profoundly expressed, “Ibrakom, a regional logistics company operating in the Middle East and Central Asia regions has taken a big step towards becoming a global logistics company through its partnership agreement they have signed with CJ Logistics. This agreement will enable the company to bridge European market gap and operate in untapped geographies. We are pleased to be involved in this landmark transaction which also is an important step in parallel with our regional growth targets and ambitions in the Region.
The recent transactions ÜNLÜ & Co has successfully completed include; Akfen Holding’s sale of 40% stake in Mersin International Port for an amount of USD 869 million, sell-side advisory to Korozo Ambalaj and its shareholders in their partnership with Actera Group and the sell-side advisory to the shareholders of Asset Medikal in their sales of majority shareholding to Pera Capital.
Since the beginning of the year, ÜNLÜ & Co completed the private placement of Sabancı Holding (USD 100 million) shares to international institutional investors. On the Debt Capital Markets front, ÜNLÜ & Co provided financial advisory for Çalık Enerji’s 150 million TL and Gözde Girişim’s 175 million TL corporate bond issuance transactions, reaching a total transaction volume of 325 million TL and 15% market share in Turkish Lira.
Ibrakom: Established in 1995, Ibrakom is the leading provider of logistics services in the Middle East and Central Asia regions. Ibrakom’s key area of specialization, project logistics and heavy haulage services involve logistics of petrochemical, energy, drilling and desalination plants, shipbuilding and vessel construction equipment and steel bridge construction. Headquartered in Dubai, Ibrakom provides logistics services in 15 countries with a total of 21 subsidiaries and 630 employees. As one of the most important players in the logistics sector in the Middle East and Central Asia regions as well as in Turkey, the Company owns 530 different lifting and haulage equipment. The company is the sole player in its region providing services to multinational companies with operations licence for freight forwarding and customs.
CJ Logistics: The sole Korean logistics company in line with its aim of becoming “Top 5 Global Logistics Company by 2020” has been actively involved in M&A transactions. CJ Logistics acquired CJ Smart Cargo, specialised in heavy industrials logistics in 2013 and acquired CJ Rokin in 2015, the leading ice cream and cold chain logistics company. In July 2016, the Company has formed a joint venture with Chinese TCL Group and established a company called CJ Speedex. In December 2016, The Company formed a joint venture with one of the top five Philippines logistics company, TDG Group, under brand name CJ Transnational.
