The majority shares of Ak Gıda, a subsidiary of Yıldız Holding, has been acquired by French food giant Lactalis Group
The majority shares of Ak Gıda San. ve Tic. A.Ş., one of the biggest food corporations in Turkey and a subsidiary of Yıldız Holding, has been acquired by French food giant Lactalis Group. ÜNLÜ & Co, the leading investment banking services and asset management group in Turkey, acted as the financial advisor of Ak Gıda.
As a subsidiary of Yıldız Holding, Ak Gıda was founded in 1996. In 1998, the company moved into a new facility in Pamukova, which is currently the biggest dairy processing facility throughout Turkey and its geographical neighbours. During the early days of its foundation, the company focused on producing UHT milk, yoghurt, fetta cheese and cheddar. As of today, Ak Gıda has been providing its 339 different products, produced in its 5 facilities in 5 different regions of Turkey to its customers under 23 separate brands. Holding the 33rd rank among the biggest 500 industrial corporations in Turkey based on the 2014 data of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, Ak Gıda has a turnover of TRY 1,837,000,000.
As the recent owner of majority sales of Ak Gıda, Lactalis Group was founded in 1933 in France. Operating in 56 different countries with more than 54,000 employees, the group has 200 operating factories. As the owner of globally renowned brands like Président, Galibani and Parmalat, Lactalis Group is currently the biggest dairy collector and the 15th biggest food corporation in the world.
